Awoniyi game-winning assist, Aina returns to Stamford Bridge as Nottingham Forest beat Chelsea
Published: September 02, 2023
Taiwo Awoniyi and Cobham product Ola Aina featured in Nottingham Forest's 1-0 victory over Chelsea on matchday four of the Premier League at Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
Awoniyi provided the assist for Forest's goal when his pass found Anthony Elanga who buried his strike into the right bottom corner to give the away side the lead in the 48th minute.
Before his substitution, the former Liverpool man had 2 shots off target, created 2 chances and put in a decent defensive shift winning 2 of his ground duels. He was replaced in the 65th minute by Chris Wood.
Super Eagles right-back Ola Aina was involved for Nottingham Forest against his former club.
The versatile defender was tasked with the responsibility of keeping Raheem Sterling quiet and did a good job against the Englishman.
He wasn't dribbled past throughout his time on the pitch, won 2 out of his 5 ground duels and won the only aerial duel he contested
He was replaced in the 72nd minute by Senegal midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate.
Super Eagles-eligible winger Noni Madueke made his second Premier League appearance off the bench for Chelsea this season.
He came on as a 62nd substitute for the Blues' vice captain Ben Chilwell
Unlike the English youth international, Lesley Ugochukwu was an unused substitute in the game.
