Announcement imminent: AS Trencin snap up three Nigerian teenagers from GBS Academy
Published: September 04, 2023
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Slovak Niké Liga oufit AS Trencin are on the verge of announcing the signing of three talented Nigerian teenagers from famous Nigerian grassroots club Golden Boot Soccer Academy.
Few days before the close of the Slovak transfer window, Aliyu Abdullahi, Emmanuel Uchegbu and Sunday Haruna have landed in the country to formalize their switch to the two-time Slovak champions.
The three 18-year-olds have already passed their medical examinations with AS Trencin, paving the way for the three promising players to put pen to paper on two-year deals with the club, with an option for an additional season.
Abdullahi was one of the best wingers in the Nigerian league before his trip to Slovakia and was in the frame to captain the Flying Eagles at the 2023 Fifa U20 World Cup, only for an injury to rule him out of the competition in Argentina.
Uchegbu was a member of the Nigeria U20 squad to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was involved in the first three games played by the national team.
Manager Ladan Bosso picked him for the tournament in Egypt following a string of impressive performances in friendly matches with seven goals in four games.
A left-back by trade, Haruna was one of the revelations of the NPFL where he played for Wikki Tourists on loan from GBS Academy.
Nigeria internationals Reuben Gabriel, Moses Simon, Samuel Kalu, Rabiu Ibrahim, Kingsley Madu and Uche Nwofor have all worn the colours of AS Trencin in the past.
