Europe's top 5 leagues TOTW: Boniface supported in attack by Tottenham, Brighton hat-trick heroes
Published: September 04, 2023
Football statistics website Whoscored.com has named Bayer Leverkusen new star Victor Boniface among the top performing players in the top five European Leagues consisting of the English Premier League, Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1 for the last round of matches before the international break.
Boniface was at the double as Bayer Leverkusen maintained their one hundred percent start to the season with a convincing 5-1 win over Darmstadt at the BayArena on Saturday.
In addition, the new Super Eagles invitee provided the assist for Bayer Leverkusen's fourth goal scored by Jonas Hofmann.
In a 3-4-3 formation, Boniface led the line and was flanked by two forwards who were in scintillating form for their Premier League clubs this past weekend.
Heung-min Son netted his fifth hat-trick in Tottenham Hotspur colours as they thrashed Burnley 5-2 at Turf Moor while Brighton & Hove's teenage sensation Evan Ferguson became the fourth Premier League player to score a hat-trick aged 18 or younger in a 3-1 victory against Newcastle United.
Boniface was awarded a rating of 9.68 out of ten, the second-best rated player in the Euro top five leagues Team of the Week, bettered only by Ferguson
The 22-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers for Bayer Leverkusen in the new season, either scoring or providing an assist in four matches in a row.
