2023 Flying Eagles invitee Goodman named in EFL League Two Team of the Week
Published: September 12, 2023
2023 Flying Eagles invitee Owen Goodman has been named in the EFL League Two Team of the Week after his outstanding performance for Colchester United in their 2-0 win over Tranmere Rovers at the JobServe Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Fresh from returning from England U20 duty at St George’s Park, where he trained with the Young Lions for five days in preparation for next month's Euro U20 Elite League, Goodman posted his second shutout in three matches in the fourth tier of English football.
The Crystal Palace loanee made a couple of brilliant saves to preserve Colchester United's clean sheet - their first at home in the new season.
Goodman saved all four of Tranmere’s efforts on goal to earn himself a spot in the League Two Team of the Week.
The 19-year-old registered four clearances, bettered by only two players in the shape of Crystal Palace academy product Mandela Egbo and Connor Hall.
He totaled 51 touches, won one aerial duel and was accurate in 75 percent of his passes.
Goodman was invited to train with the Flying Eagles in Abuja before the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations but did not show up in camp.
