Bayer Leverkusen striker Boniface sets two records despite firing blanks against Bayern
Published: September 18, 2023
Super Eagles forward Victor Boniface couldn't break the Bundesliga record for most goal contributions by a new player after 4 games having failed to score or assist in Bayern Leverkusen's 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich on Friday night.
However, the 22-year record has been able to set another record in the German topflight.
According to the statisticians at OPTA, Boniface has recorded 29 shots in his four games in the German top flight, which is the most recorded after four rounds of games since detailed stats collection in the 2004/2005 season.
Also, despite not getting on the scoresheet against the Bavarians, he also set another record.
According to football statistics website, Whoscored, Boniface recorded 19 touches against Bayern Munich which is the most of any player in the top 5 leagues in Europe in the 2023-2024 season.
The foregoing proves how brilliant the former Royale Union Saint Gilloise striker has been since he arrived at the BayArena in the summer transfer window.
In four Bundesliga games, he has registered 4 goals and 2 assists which is a great return for any player in a new league.
