PSV Eindhoven's Lagos-born defender will not make Champions League debut against Arsenal
Published: September 19, 2023PSV Eindhoven manager Peter Bosz has named twenty two players in the traveling squad for his side's opening Group B fixture against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League.
Lagos-born central defender Emmanuel van de Blaak will not make his Champions League debut against the Gunners as he did not travel with the first team to the English capital on Tuesday.
Bosz has taken seven defenders to London, namely Armel Bella-Kotchap, Jordan Teze, André Ramalho, Olivier Boscagli, Sergiño Dest, Patrick van Aanholt and Shurandy Sambo.
Emmanuel van de Blaak has been registered on PSV Eindhoven's B List roster for the Champions League as an U21 player having spent more than three years at the Eredivisie giants.
The 18-year-old made his senior debut for PSV in a European competition - against Bodø/Glimt in last season's Europa League and received his second call-up to the first team against Sevilla back in February.
Emmanuel van de Blaak has played in five matches for Jong PSV in the second tier of Dutch football this term.
Now in his fourth season with PSV, he signed a new deal last summer that will keep him at the club until 2025.
PSV face Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday evening, starting from 2000 hours Nigerian time.
