Osimhen issues apology to his teammates, Napoli coach for his outburst after being substituted
Published: September 25, 2023
Super Eagles center forward Victor Osimhen has apologized to Napoli coach Rudi Garcia and his teammates for his reaction after being substituted in their barren draw with Bologna on Sunday.
As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, the 2022-2023 Paulo Rossi Award winner has now shown remorse for his reaction as he was informed in the dressing room that he overreacted due his hunger for success.
Garcia replaced Osimhen with Giovanni Simeone with four minutes left in the encounter and that triggered an angry reaction from the Nigerian striker.
The 24-year-old had a bad day in office as he struck the woodwork and also missed a penalty in the 72nd minute after a handball incident.
Osimhen has been unable to find the back of the net in the last four games for Napoli which is uncharacteristic of him.
With matches to come against Udinese and Lecce on match day 6 and 7 respectively in the Serie A, he will be hoping he can find his impressive form once again and help Napoli defend their league title.
