Osimhen sets new personal record after breaking his goal drought against Udinese
Published: September 27, 2023
Victor Osimhen has broken his four-game goal drought by scoring a goal in Napoli's 4-1 win over Udinese on matchday six of the Serie A played at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Wednesday night and thereby set a new personal record in the process, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Piotr Zieliński opened the scoring for the defending Serie A champions in the 19th minute from the penalty spot before Osimhen doubled the lead.
The 24-year-old bagged his goal in the 39th minute when he connected with a pass from Matteo Politano before he calmly slotted the ball into the net.
By scoring against Udinese tonight, it marks the first time in his career that he has scored in five conservative matches against the same team.
The Nigeria international first scored against the White and Blacks in the 2021/2022 season and he has scored in every game against them since then.
He was replaced in the 63rd minute with Giovanni Simeone coming on in his place.
Khvicha Kvaratskhelia got the third goal for Rudi Garcia's side to end his 15-game goal drought while Simeone wrapped up the scoring at minute 81.
