Confirmed: Super Eagles-eligible attacker extends contract with Sheffield United
Published: October 02, 2023
With a statement on their official website, Premier League side Sheffield United have announced that Super Eagles-eligible attacker William Osula has been rewarded with a new and improved long-term contract.
The Denmark U21 international of Nigerian descent is now tied to the Blades until the summer of 2027, having put pen to paper on a fresh four-year deal.
A product of FC Copenhagen, Osula joined Sheffield United in 2018, rising through the youth team ranks to make his professional debut in a Championship clash against Blackpool in March 2022.
In search of regular playing opportunities, he was farmed out on loan to Derby County, where he scored 5 goals in 21 games in the first half of the 2022-2023 season, before he was recalled in the January transfer window.
Osula started the first three Premier League games played by Sheffield United this term but has not been called up for their last three matches in the division due to injury.
Commenting on his new deal Osula said to Sheffield United's official website: "This is a big day for me and I'm grateful. The last couple of years have been good, it has been a learning curve and I'm enjoying the experience.
"It was amazing to play in the first three games, I was happy to be involved because it is a dream to play in the Premier League. It was a great education and experience against big teams, I enjoy the challenge.
"I've seen the level and this is where I want to play with Sheffield United, I've had a lot of support and encouragement, I want to work hard and push on now."
Born in Aarhus to a Danish mother and Nigerian father, Osula is provisionally cap-tied to his country of birth.
