Top assists provider in the whole of Ligue 1, Moses Simon scoops Nantes Player of the Month for October
Published: November 04, 2023
Moses Simon has been named Nantes' Player of the Month for October 2023 after the Nigeria international won a vote by the fans of the Canaries.
The flamboyant winger started the four matches contested by Nantes in the French Ligue 1 last month, helping them pick up back-to-back wins against Strasbourg and Montpellier.
He provided the assist for Nantes second goal netted by Abdoul Kader Bamba in their 2-0 victory over Montpellier at the Stade de la Beaujoire on October 22.
With 39.67% of the votes, Simon saw off competition from Florent Mollet (28.6%), Pedro Chirivella (20.75%) and Marcus Coco ((10.98%).) to claim Nantes' Player of the Month prize.
Simon has been in brilliant form since the start of the 2023-2024 season, not only in October.
According to stats from the official website of the Ligue 1, Simon has notched four assists in 805 minutes of action, the best in the French top flight this term, together with Florian Sotoca (Lens) and Caio Henrique (Monaco).
The former Gent star is a Ligue 1 veteran, having made 133 appearances across five seasons since landing at the Canaries in August 2019.
Barring an injury, the in-form Simon will be named in the Super Eagles squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
