'Will be ready to make his contribution' - AC Milan coach confirms Chukwueze is available for selection v PSG
Published: November 06, 2023
Speaking at a press conference on Monday to preview his side's UEFA Champions League meeting with Paris Saint-Germain, AC Milan manager Stefano Pioli confirmed that Samuel Chukwueze is at his disposal against the French Ligue 1 team.
The right winger has not figured for the Rossoneri since he suffered a hamstring injury during the international friendly between Saudi Arabia and Nigeria on October 13 - an ailment that kept him out of the matchday squad against Mozambique.
Chukwueze proved he is fit again in AC Milan's final workout on Monday, having completed all the exercises without any issues.
Pioli made it clear that USMNT star Christian Pulisic is ahead of Chukwueze in his pecking order of right wingers and this indicates that the Nigeria international is likely to make his comeback from injury off the bench if he is given minutes by the coach.
In quotes relayed by AC Milan's official website, Pioli said: "Pulisic and Chukwueze are fit. Samuel has had fewer minutes after getting injured on international duty.
"I think Christian will start but Samu will be ready to make his contribution."
Chuwkueze's AC Milan career has not started as he would have hoped as the former Villarreal man has yet to either score or assist in nine matches for the Italian giants.
The 24-year-old's potential return to action at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium on Tuesday has seemingly put him back in contention to be named in the Super Eagles squad for the back-to-back World Cup qualifying matches against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.
