Super Eagles forward Josh Maja has expressed his happiness after opening his goal-scoring account for West Brom.
The one-cap Nigeria international scored his first goal for the Baggies in their 2-1 loss to Kelechi Iheanacho's Leicester City yesterday at the Hawthorns in an English Championship encounter.
Maja got his goal in the 89th minute when he riffled the ball home from a rebound shot to restore parity for his side but a goal from Harry Winks in the additional time denied them from getting anything from the encounter.
The 24-year-old joined West Brom in the summer but has struggled with form and injuries and must be relieved to have finally scored his first goal.
While speaking after the loss to Leicester City, the former Bordeaux striker expressed his disappointment in his side's defeat but took solace in scoring his first goal for the club.
"It was a big moment for me to get my first goal for the club. Hopefully, it's the first of many," Maja said to West Brom's official website.
"I was grateful to get more minutes and I want to show everyone what I can do and play my part in helping this club win games.
"We can't get too disheartened by this result because we went toe-to-toe with Leicester City."
Maja has featured in 8 games across all competitions this season for the Baggies and will be hoping he can now stay fit and score more goals for them as they seek to return to the Premier League.
They currently occupy the 5th spot in the Championship standings with 32 points after nineteen games.
