'Such a great player' - Iwobi hails ex-Arsenal and Chelsea star after Fulham's win against Nottingham Forest
Published: December 07, 2023
Alex Iwobi lauded former Arsenal and Chelsea star Willian after Fulham thrashed Nottingham Forest 5-0 in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
Now 35 years of age, the Copa America champion with Brazil in 2019 showed he's still got it with an impressive display against the two-time European champions at Craven Cottage and the highlight of his performance was providing the assist for Fulham's opening goal netted by Iwobi.
On the half-hour mark, Iwobi side-footed the ball into the bottom corner after an in-swinging cross from Willian with Calvin Bassey involved in the build-up to the goal after driving forward and feeding Tom Cairney.
It was a historic game for Willian as he became the first Brazilian player to reach a milestone of 300 appearances in the Premier League.
A breakdown of his 300 games in the English top-flight shows that he made 234 appearances for Chelsea, 25 for Arsenal and 41 for Fulham.
In quotes relayed by Fulham News, Iwobi stated: "Yeah, I mean we know he’s quality, we see it every time in training and everyone’s seen it in the Premier League.
"Willian’s such a great player, he makes it easy for us because you just run into the box and he’s able to find you nine times out of ten."
Willian helped Chelsea win five major honours during his time at Stamford Bridge, including the Premier League twice, FA Cup, League Cup and Europa League.
