Flamengo Adidas Cup: Arsenal starlet Obi-Martin named Striker of the Tournament
Published: December 18, 2023
Promising Arsenal U17 player Chido Obi-Martin has been named Striker of the Tournament at the Flamengo Adidas Cup in Brazil.
The Denmark U17 international of Nigeria descent was a key player for the Gunners during the tournament.
The center forward bagged a brace as Arsenal came from behind to secure a 2-1 win over Flamengo in their opening game - a feat that earned him the Man of the Match accolade.
Obi-Martin played the role of a super-sub after coming off the bench to score twice as Arsenal U17s were beaten 4-3 by Santos Laguna last Friday.
The Danish-Nigerian wonderkid was too hot to handle for the defenders and they resorted to fouling tactics to prevent him from wreaking havoc.
He dusted himself down to convert two penalties he had won in matches against Flamengo and Santos Laguna.
Arsenal have already secured the future of Obi-Martin for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 seasons, with the striker set to sign scholarship forms with the Emirates Stadium outfit next summer.
Obi-Martin has made his debuts in the U18 Premier League, UEFA Youth League and Premier League 2 as a schoolboy.
