Chelsea offer new deal to son of former Super Eagles star ahead of next season
Published: January 23, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Premier League giants Chelsea have offered a new contract to Landon Emenalo, son of former Super Eagles left-back Michael Emenalo ahead of the start of the 2024-2025 season.
As per Premier League rules, all players in their U17 year are required to start the 2024-2025 season on a scholarship agreement, before they are permitted to sign a first professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday.
Emenalo celebrated his sixteenth birthday last Thursday, meaning he is now eligible to sign scholarship forms with Chelsea for the 2024-2025 campaign.
The versatile midfielder has been offered a scholarship deal and will be among the new intake of Academy scholars next season if he puts pen to paper on the contract.
Emenalo is highly thought of by the powers that be at Chelsea including manager Mauricio Pochettino who invited him to train with the first team last week.
Now in his final season as a schoolboy, he made his competitive debut for Chelsea's development squad in an U21 Premier League Cup meeting with Colchester United on Monday, coming off the bench for the last thirteen minutes of the contest.
If Emenalo accepts the offer from Chelsea, he will be fully promoted to the U18 team next season.
Born in London, he is eligible to represent Nigeria, England and United States at international level.
