Lecce make offer to sign Super Eagles midfielder Dele-Bashiru; Porto also interested
Published: January 29, 2024Italian Serie A club Lecce are interested in signing Hatayspor's Nigeria international Fisayo Dele-Bashiru.
According to Sky Sports UK, Lecce have made an offer to sign Hatayspor midfielder Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, who is also drawing interest from Portuguese setup Porto.
The Manchester City academy product had been linked with Italian champions Napoli and Turkish giants Fenerbahce around two months ago but it now seems as though Lecce are in pole position for his signature..
Lecce are in the market for midfield reinforcements and will be hoping to get the deal over the line before the close of the January transfer window.
Dele-Bashiru took his game to another level following his move to Hatayspor from Sheffield Wednesday , registering eight goal involvements in his first eleven games in the Turkish Super Lig - a form that earned him a first-ever call-up to the Nigeria national team for friendlies against Saudi Arabia and Mozambique last October.
The 22-year-old would have been Nigeria's second youngest player at the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after Club Brugge's Raphael Onyedika but his name was omitted from the final 25-man squad.
Dele-Bashiru offers a bit of versatility as he can play wide, can play as an attacking midfielder and box-to-box midfielder.
He has two and a half years left on his contract with Hatayspor.
