Chelsea join the race to sign Manchester United-linked Dutch-Nigerian striker
Published: February 19, 2024
According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Chelsea have joined Manchester United in the race to sign Dutch-Nigerian striker Joshua Zirkzee, who has been in stellar form for Bologna this season in the Serie A.
The report stated that the Premier League giants have been impressed with the performances of the 22-year-old striker as they seek alternatives for first-choice target Victor Osimhen.
The Stamford Bridge outfit are set to face stern opposition for the signing of the Nigeria international who has also emerged as a priority for PSG, which explains their interest in Zirkzee.
The 22-year-old has been in blistering form in the Serie A this campaign, leading Bologna's charge for an unlikely finish in the top four.
The Super Eagles-eligible striker was on the scoresheet yet again last weekend, scoring a 78th-minute goal to give Bologna the maximum points against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.
He has now netted 9 goals in the Serie A this term and has also assisted four times in 24 appearances.
Zirkzee is also on the radar of Barcelona, AC Milan, Juventus and AS Roma with the battle for his signature likely to be one of the talking points in the next transfer window.
