Arsenal youth product Akinola lands in Czech Republic for contract talks with MFK Karvina
Published: February 20, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Arsenal youth product Tim Akinola has landed in Czech Republic for contract talks with First League club MFK Karviná.
The 2022 Nigeria Olympic National Team invitee is currently a free agent after mutually terminating his contract with Qatargas League team Al Bidda SC, whom he joined from Arsenal in September 2023.
Akinola trained with an unnamed club in England before heading to Czech Republic to conclude negotiations with MFK Karviná.
If personal terms are agreed and he passes his medical examination, the promising central midfielder is expected to append his signature to a two-year contract.
Akinola was heavily linked with a switch to Portuguese setup C.F. Estrela da Amadora in the January transfer window, only for the deal to fall through at the last minute as he was about boarding a flight to Portugal.
Saudi Arabian and Qatari clubs also explored the possibility of signing the onetime Huddersfield Town and Lincoln City youth teamer but he prioritized a return to Europe.
It is envisaged that Akinola will not have problems adapting to his new environment if his proposed move to MFK Karviná materializes as there are four Nigerian players on the books of the club including Adeleke Akinyemi, David Moses, Emmanuel Ayaosi and Lucky Ezeh.
He took in loan spells at Dundee United and Chesterfield during his time at the Emirates Stadium.
