Victor Osimhen alternative: Bayer Leverkusen to demand at least N70b from Chelsea for Super Eagles striker
Published: February 21, 2024According to sportBILD via TEAMtalk, Bayer Leverkusen are set to demand at least €40m (approximately N70 billion in Nigerian currency) from Chelsea for the signing of Nigerian striker Victor Boniface.
The Blues are seeking alternatives to primary target Victor Osimhen and have identified Boniface as one alongside Dutch-Nigerian forward Joshua Zirkzee, Brighton's Evan Ferguson, and England international Ivan Toney.
Chelsea's desperate search for a striker is not surprising as they have continued to struggle for goals this term with only Manchester United and West Ham netting fewer than them among teams in the top half of the Premier League table.
There are no indications that they have given up in their pursuit of Osimhen but with PSG now in connection for the reigning CAF Men's Player of the Year, it is safer to start to stark seeking for alternatives.
Boniface could prove to be a good one as he has shone brilliantly for Bayer Leverkusen in just his maiden season in the Bundesliga, hitting double figures for goal involvements already.
With 10 goals and seven assists, the Nigeria international has the joint most goal contributions for the Bundesliga table toppers.
He is currently recovering from an injury that has kept him out of action since the turn of the year and made him miss the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
