Flying Eagles invitee Sunday Joseph has revealed that he models his game after Manchester City's Norwegian goal machine
Erling Haaland.
Haaland first came to prominence at the 2019 Fifa U20 World Cup in Poland as he etched his name into the history books as the player with the most goals in a single match after notching nine goals in Norway's 12-0 demolition of Honduras.
The 23-year-old is widely regarded as the best center forward in the world at the moment and enjoyed a superb first season at Manchester City, scoring 36 goals in 35 games to win the European Golden Boot award.
Joseph has disclosed that the Norwegian has served as his inspiration as he aims to be included in Ladan Bosso's final squad for the upcoming 2023 African Games.
The Zamfara United player is one of he eleven strikers Bosso named on his training camp roster, the others being Kehinde Ibrahim, Danjuma Lawali, Oluwaseyi Akinfenwa, Ibrahim Lawal, Charles Agada, Nasir Muhammed, Olalekan Ibrahim, Muhammad Isiaka, Rabiu Abdullahi and Nathaniel Arierhi.
On the player he models his game after, Joseph said to Totori News: "Honestly I want to play like Erling Haaland, just to be scoring goals. I don't care about anything, just to score.
"My first training session (with Flying Eagles) I scored two goals. I didn't score any goal in the friendly match but the training session I scored a goal.
"The first half of the friendly was a little bit tough because the guys came with the morale that they want to beat the national team.
"Everybody is fighting for jersey, even the ones that played against us are fighting to be called up to the team."
Joseph concluded by saying that his target is to win the 2023 African Games with the Flying Eagles and vowed to contribute his best if he's picked in the final squad by Ladan Bosso.
