Anglo-Nigerian forward Noni Madueke has revealed that he is looking forward to playing at Wembley Stadium as he is in contention to feature for Chelsea in their Carabao Cup final clash with Liverpool on Sunday evening.
The 21-year-old has made four appearances in the competition this term, scoring two goals and thereby playing a role in the Stamford Bridge outfit reaching the final.
However, it remains to be seen how much role he will play in the clash against the Reds, considering the competition in Mauricio Pochettino's side.
Speaking ahead of the showpiece, Madueke revealed that he is looking forward to playing at Wembley and reminisced about his childhood memory of witnessing Didier Drogba's unforgettable volley during Chelsea's 5-1 triumph over Tottenham Hotspur in the FA Cup semifinals back in April 2012.
"I'm really looking forward to this Sunday. Wembley in London – we're a London team – Liverpool are a good side but we're starting to play well, and hopefully come the final whistle we will be the ones celebrating," Madueke said to Chelsea's official website.
"This is my first time playing at Wembley and we're looking forward to trying to get the win for the club and the fans. It will be a great occasion regardless, but we're not in the final to try and lose it – we want to win.
'My first ever football game was Chelsea v Tottenham in the FA Cup semi-final in 2012 when Drogba scored that volley. So it will be great to play at Wembley for the first time – it will be a surreal experience."
The Blues last met the Reds in the final of the 2022 edition of the tournament but were defeated on penalties.
Madueke and his teammates will be hoping they can pay Liverpool back in their coin in tomorrow's encounter and win the trophy for the sixth time.
Should the Blues win tomorrow's tie, it will be the first trophy the England youth international will be lifting at the club.
