Keep or loan him out: What should Inter Milan do with Ebenezer Akinsanmiro?
Published: March 01, 2024
Ebenezer Akinsanmiro's name has become a hot topic in the Nigerian media after the 19-year-old midfielder recently made his Inter Milan first team debut in a Serie A match against Lecce earlier this week.
However based on recent reports, the Nerazzurri could decide to loan out the youngster so he can acquire the much needed maturity to thrive as a first team player but the question is, should Inter Milan keep him and nurture his talent within the club, or should they send him out on loan to gain valuable first-team experience?
Akinsanmiro''s journey to Inter is a testament to his raw talent. After helping Remo Stars secure promotion to the Nigerian top division, he attracted interest from Inter Milan who secured his services, signing him on a four-year contract in January 2023.
Since then, Akinsanmiro has impressed with his performances for the Primavera team, Inter's youth squad.
His attacking prowess, coupled with his box-to-box midfield presence, has seen him contribute five goals and two assists in 19 appearances.
This impressive display culminated in his much-anticipated senior team debut against Lecce in February 2024, where he came on as a substitute.
However, despite his talent, breaking into Inter Milan's starting lineup remains a daunting task as they boast a strong midfield core, featuring established names like Hakan Çalhanoğlu and Nicolò Barella.
This has fueled suggestions that Inter Milan are considering loaning Akinsanmiro out for the upcoming season.
While a loan move could provide him with the opportunity to play regular first-team football and accelerate his development, there are also arguments to be made for keeping him at Inter.
Training alongside experienced players like Henrikh Mkhitaryan could be invaluable for Akinsanmiro, shaping his tactical understanding and decision-making on the pitch.
Additionally, Inter's coaching staff, led by Simone Inzaghi, has a proven track record of developing young talent, as evidenced by the success stories of Nicolò Barella and Alessandro Bastoni.
Ultimately, the decision of whether to keep or loan out Akinsanmiro lies with Inter Milan's management and coaching staff.
They will need to carefully weigh the potential benefits and drawbacks of each option, keeping in mind both Akinsanmiro's short-term development and Inter's long-term goals.
