Tottenham hold advantage over Man Utd in race for Dutch-Nigerian striker
Published: March 01, 2024
Tottenham are leading Manchester United and AC Milan in the race for Dutch-Nigerian forward Joshua Zirkzee, TEAMtalk has claimed.
It is no news that Spurs are weakened in attack following the departure of club legend Harry Kane to Bayern Munich last summer and could make do with an additional forward, particularly a striker.
Tottenham brought in former Chelsea forward Timo Werner on loan from RB Leipzig last month to supplement their attacking options but he has failed to impress and it is highly unlikely that they keep him beyond the end of the season.
While Zirkzee might not be in the class of Kane yet, he has been one of the best strikers in the Serie A this campaign and will be a good addition to Spurs.
In the Tottenham squad, only Son and Richarlison have more league goals than the Super Eagles-eligible forward and his addition to this side will add more firepower to Ange Postecoglou's side.
Besides the 22-year-old, Tottenham have also been linked with Feyenoord star Santiago Gimenez and Stuttgart's Serhou Guirassy.
Zirkzee has been named in the Netherlands provisional squad for their March internationals against Scotland and Germany.
