Arsenal came from behind to beat London rivals Chelsea in a Premier League 2 clash at Kingsmeadow on Friday night.
The game saw the return of 2023 Flying Eagles invite Ovie Ejeheri to the matchday squad but the goalkeeper remained rooted to the bench for the entirety of the game as Arsenal U21 manager Mehmet Ali opted to hand a start to the experienced Estonia international Karl Hein.
Nathan Butler-Oyedeji, back from a loan spell at Cheltenham, led Arsenal's attack with Ethan Nwaneri slotting in in an attacking midfield role.
Nwaneri had a glorious chance to break the deadlock at minute 12 but saw his penalty saved after Josh Nichols was brought down in the box
It was 1-1 at the break as Taylor Foran canceled out Deivid Washington's opener midway through the first half.
James Sweet struck the ball into the top corner to give the Gunners the lead for the first time in the game in the 54th minute
Nwaneri scored the pick of the goals in the 64th minute when he got past three defenders and found the bottom corner.
Butler-Oyedeji's cross in the 84th minute forced an own goal from Zak Sturge.but Jimmy-Jay Morgan pulled one back right at the death to bring respectability to the score.
The win means Arsenal are third in the table with 30 points, four more than fifth-placed Chelsea.
