Struggling for game time at loan club: Super Eagles-eligible midfielder back playing for Man Utd U21s
Published: March 02, 2024Poland U21 international of Nigerian descent Maxi Oyedele is back at Premier League giants Manchester United for the time being, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The promising midfielder became Forest Green Rovers' fourth signing of the January transfer window, joining them on loan for the remainder of the season.
It was his second loan spell as a Manchester United player having spent the second half of last season at National League club Altrincham, where he scored four goals in twelve league outings.
Oyedele has struggled for game time since moving to Forest Green Rovers, making four appearances off the bench in the League Two.
Overall, the 19-year-old has logged 63 minutes from a possible 720 minutes in the fourth tier of English football and was not called up for the last two games played by the Green Army.
Oyedele was spotted training with Manchester United's first teamers at Carrington Training Ground on February 29, a day after their win against Nottingham Forest in the Emirates FA Cup.
The Anglo-Polish-Nigerian youngster started and was in action for 89 minutes as Manchester United were beaten 4-2 by Derby County in a Premier League 2 clash at Leigh Sports Village on Friday night.
Former Arsenal schoolboy Adebayo Fapetu impressed for the young Rams, scoring and providing an assist in the first half before Ethan Williams finished off an assist from Oyedele in the 68th minute to reduce the deficit.
