First Premier League call-up: 15yo son of ex-Super Eagles striker could make Wolves history in Newcastle

Wesley Okoduwa could etch his name into the history books as the youngest-ever player to represent Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League if he earns minutes for the Molineux Stadium outfit against Newcastle United at St. James' Park  on Saturday, March 2.

A right-back by trade, Okoduwa has received his first call-up to the first team but starts on the bench against the Magpies.

If his name does not ring a bell, Wesley is the son of former Shakhtar Donetsk and Arsenal Kyiv striker Emmanuel Okoduwa, who is credited with one appearance for the Super Eagles.

Emmanuel Okoduwa played a crucial role as Nigeria won the silver medal at the 2003 African Games, scoring against South Africa and Senegal in the group stage.

At 15 years, nine months and 21 days old, Wesley would replace Jimmy Mullen as the youngest player to represent Wolverhampton Wanderers in a competitive fixture if he comes off the bench against Newcastle United.

Legendary forward Jimmy Mullen was 16 years and 43 days when he played in his first official game for Wolves in 1938.

Wesley Okoduwa has earned promotion to Wolves first team for the trip to Newcastle United five days after he helped England U16s win the Football Federations Cup.

Okoduwa has already made his competitive debuts for Wolves U18s and development squad whilst still a schoolboy which is proof of how highly he is rated by the coaching staff.
