Benjamin Tanimu pledges to devote 'all strength' to Super Eagles' March internationals
Published: March 11, 2024
Super Eagles Invitee Benjamin Tanimu has reacted to his invitation for the national team's March internationals against Ghana and Mali.
The Nigeria Football Federation, over the weekend, announced the list of 27 players to prosecute the clash against Mali and Ghana in March friendlies.
Nigeria will play Ghana on March 22 and Mali four days later in Marrakech, Morocco.
The friendly is the first time Nigeria will be in action since finishing second at the 2023 AFCON tournament in Ivory Coast.
Tanimu, who plays for Ihefu FC in Tanzania, is among the players invited for the both games. The invitation is the first for the former Bendel Insurance defender.
The 21-year-old shown for the Benin Arsenal last campaign in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
He was instrumental as Bendel Insurance finished the season with the best defensive record in the league.
Speaking on the invitation, Tanimu expressed his happiness and vowed to give his all if called upon against Ghana and Mali.
"It's God's doing," Tanimu told the Punch.
"This time last year, I was also invited to the U-23 team. I'm glad to have been invited to the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the upcoming international friendlies against Mali and Ghana. It's huge progress for my career.
"Clarion call heard, and I'm ready to serve Nigeria with all strength."
Tanzania's Ihefu FC secured Tanimu's signature last month.
The young defender is expected to prove his worth during the friendlies as Nigeria look to continue their impressive form after finishing second at the AFCON tournament.
The upcoming clashes against Mali and Ghana will provide him with the perfect platform to showcase his talent and make a strong case for regular inclusion in the national team.
