Super Eagles watch: Chukwueze opens Serie A account after 616 minutes; Dele-Bashiru ends 21-game goal drought

In the Italian Serie A, Samuel Chukwueze finally scored his first league goal to help AC Milan register a 3-1 win against Hellas Verona at the Marcantonio Bentegodi.

After coming off the bench to replace cap-tied Switzerland international of Nigerian descent Noah Okafor in the 74th minute, the former Villarreal winger wrapped up the scoring five minutes later.

AC Milan have led the statistics this season from goals off the bench and another example was the goal from Chukwueze, who scored with a spectacular volley from just inside the 18-yard box after a defensive clearance fell invitingly to him. 

Overall, Chukwueze spent 616 minutes on the pitch spread across seventeen matches before netting his first goal in the Italian top-flight, taking his tally to three goals in 24 games in all competitions in the process. 

Manchester City academy product Fisayo Dele-Bashiru will report for international duty this week in Morocco a relieved man. 

The versatile midfielder started the season on fire with six goal involvements (4 goals, 2 assists) in his first six Turkish Super Lig games, only to fire blanks in his next twenty-one. 

In Hatayspor's 3-0 rout of Samsunspor, Dele-Bashiru doubled the advantage after an incisive pass from Rigoberto Rivas and he returned the favour two minutes into stoppage time when he teed up the number 99 for the last goal of the game.
