Nigeria's interim coach, Finidi George, hinted at his favorite Nigerian players when asked to list his dream Super Eagles XI, exclusively composed of players he had shared the field with during his time in the national team.
The former Ajax Amsterdam and Real Betis star is widely regarded as the greatest Nigerian winger of all-time and played with some of the best Nigerian players in history.
Finidi was a key member of the Super Eagles squad that won the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and holds the distinction of being the first Nigerian player to provide an assist at the World Cup.
It is not surprising that Finidi has selected ten of his teammates at the World Cup in the United States in his ultimate XI, including Fenerbahce, Anderlecht, Everton, Bolton Wanderers and Vitoria Setubal legends.
In an exclusive interview with Victor Modo in Morocco, Finidi has chosen Peter Rufai in goal and picked Nigeria Football Federation's Technical Director Augustine Eguavoen at right-back.
His center back pairing has Anderlecht icon Stephen Keshi and Uche Okechukwu, who was on the books of Turkish giants Fenerbahce for nine years. during his playing days.
At left-back, he went for Benedict Iroha, one of the heroes of Nigeria's shootout win over Ivory Coast in the semifinals of the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations.
Finidi has deployed Bolton Wanderers icon Austin Okocha and ex-Super Eagles captain Sunday Oliseh as the central midfielders, gave himself the right midfield role with ex-Barcelona star Emmanuel Amuneke occupying the left side of midfield.
Finally, in a two-man attack, he selected Vitoria Setubal legend Rashidi Yekini, Nigeria's record goalscorer, and Everton icon Daniel Amokachi.
Finidi's Dream Super Eagles XI: Rufai; Eguavoen, Okechukwu, Keshi, Iroha; Finidi, Oliseh, Okocha, Amuneke; Amokachi, Yekini
