Zirkzee returns to full training at Bologna after injury ruled him out of Netherlands debut
Published: March 30, 2024
Bologna striker of Nigerian-descent Joshua Zirkzee has made a quicker than anticipated recovery from injury, the club announced via their official website.
The young attacker picked up a muscle injury during the Serie A clash against Inter Milan on March 9th.
This forced him to miss out on joining the Netherlands national team for their recent international break fixtures.
However, positive signs emerged on Thursday as Zirkzee rejoined the Bologna squad for full training.
Having participated in a full session without any setbacks, the club's medical team is confident that the player has made a complete recovery.
The-22-year-old marksman has emerged as a key player for the Rossoblu this season, contributing with ten goals and four assists whilst also offering a strong attacking presence.
His return to fitness provides coach Thiago Motta with a valuable option upfront, especially with a crucial period of the Serie A season approaching.
With Zirkzee back in the fold, Bologna will be looking to maintain their good form in the league.
They currently sit in fourth position and will be aiming to push for a strong finish in the remaining matches.
