Philip Otele: Club Brugge, Napoli 'interest' not real; Brighton target scouted by Brentford in January
Published: March 30, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that reports at home and abroad linking Nigerian forward Philip Otele with possible moves to Napoli and Club Brugge in the summer transfer window are wide of the mark.
The reigning Italian champions and the Belgian powerhouse have no concrete interest in signing Otele as of now.
Otele has a valid contract with CFR Cluj until June 2025 and his deal with the Railwaymen includes the option of an additional season, but his future at the eight-time Romanian SuperLiga champions has dominated the back pages over the past three months.
The 24-year-old is a having a banner season for CFR Club and has put himself in the shop window after registering nineteen goal involvements over the course of the regular season.
Apart from Brighton & Hove, teams in the EFL Championship have also expressed an interest in signing Otele.
The Seagulls could be facing competition in the form of Brentford in the race for the services of the talented Nigerian winger.
It is known that Otele's minders have a very close relationship with the Bees as well as Brentford's Nigeria national teamer Frank Onyeka.
Brentford posted a scout to check on the progress of Otele during CFR Cluj's 4-1 rout of FC Voluntari on the 23rd matchday of the Superliga, on January 29, 2024, and the Nigerian did not disappoint the scout in attendance at the Constantin Rădulescu Stadium.
The Brentford talent spotter watched him score his ninth goal of the season after the hour mark.
CR Cluj are resigned to losing Otele when the summer transfer window opens for business and have valued him at four million euros.
