Super Eagles striker Victor Boniface made his comeback from injury on Wednesday night during Bayer Leverkusen's 4-0 triumph over Düsseldorf in the semifinal of the German Cup played at the BayArena.
Right wingback Jeremie Frimpong opened the scoring as early as the 7th minute, burying Patrik Schick's cut back into the back of the net.
Morocco international Amine Adli doubled the Bundesliga table-toppers' lead in the 20th minute, got the better of his marker before powering the ball home with an unstoppable shot.
Florian Wirtz bagged the Black and the Reds' third of the night with a close-range shot in the 36th minute, assisted by Adli.
The German international sealed the victory for Xabi Alonso's side on the hour mark from the penalty spot after Matthias Zimmermann was adjudged to have committed a handball after a VAR check.
Five minutes later, Boniface came on Schick to mark his first appearance of the year with Bayer Leverkusen having sealed their victory.
The Nigeria international had 15 touches of the ball, made two key passes, completed 91% of his passes, created one big chance and lost the ball four times.
He has made three appearances in the German Cup this season and has two goals to his credit.
