Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Dutch Eredivisie clubs Ajax Amsterdam and SC Heerenveen are keeping tabs on Nigeria U20 star Emmanuel Uchegbu with a view to a transfer.
The Golden Boot Soccer Academy product arrived at AS Trencin last September and quickly earned a place among the first team players after impressing at a training camp in January 2024.
Since his arrival in Slovakia, Uchegbu has already topped the dribbling charts in the I. Liga starsieho dorastu, having registered the highest success rate of 74.6 percent, and attempted the most shots among players in the League.
The versatile and pacy forward has an eye for a pass and ability to pop up in the penalty area.
His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with Ajax sending scouts to monitor the progress of the 19-year-old in Slovakia.
It is understood that the four-time European champions and SC Heerenveen might firm up their interest in Uchegbu if he maintains the level of performance he has displayed this season.
Uchegbu played a key role off the bench as AS Trencin thrashed FC ViOn Zlaté Moravce 4-0 in the Slovak top-flight on Saturday, providing the assist for the fourth goal netted by Arthur Gajdoš in the 85th minute.
International recognition came his way with the Flying Eagles at the 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations, where he was involved in the first three games played by Ladan Bosso's team before injury ruled him out of the tournament and the Fifa U20 World Cup in Argentina.
It understood that it would take a fee in the region of 2 million euros (approximately N2.6 billion in Nigerian currency) to prise Uchegbu away from AS Trencin in the summer.
