Arsenal offer two new deals to 20-goal striker Obi-Martin after impressive displays for U18s
Published: April 16, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Premier League giants Arsenal have offered two new deals to talented Denmark U17 international of Nigerian descent Chido Obi-Martin in a bid to ward off interest from top European clubs not limited to Borussia Dortmund and Ajax Amsterdam.
Obi-Martin is in his final season as a schoolboy and his registration with Arsenal expires on June 30, 2024.
The Gunners have offered the Danish-Nigerian wonderkid a scholarship and a professional contract for when he turns seventeen in November 2024.
Per Mertesacker, Arsenal's academy chief, is hoping he can persuade Obi-Martin to stay just as he convinced Ethan Nwaneri to commit his future to the club last summer, but the striker has yet to sign on the dotted line as of now.
The retired Germany international pulled off a significant transfer coup bringing Obi-Martin to Arsenal, as the Gunners saw off competition from London rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Obi-Martin has made a splash this season, scoring 20 goals in just fourteen games to equal Rhys Murphy's record for most goals scored by a schoolboy in a single U18 Premier League season.
The 16-year-old's next target is to break Folarin Balogun's record for most goals scored (25) for the U18s in a single season, which he set in the 2018-2019 campaign.
Obi-Martin made his debuts in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League 2 in October 2023, as a 15-year-old .
