Kylian Mbappe's replacement: Paris Saint-Germain make decision on Napoli striker Osimhen
Published: April 24, 2024
According to Il Matino via GOAL, Paris Saint-Germain are ready to secure the signature of Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen by paying his release clause.
The Ligue 1 table toppers have identified the Napoli star as the ideal replacement for departing club legend Kylian Mbappé whose contract ends in the summer.
There have been reports on whether the French giants have agreed on how best to replace the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner but they have now reportedly agreed to go all out for Osimhen.
The Napoli star is also said to be interested in joining the Paris-based club which could hasten negotiations between the two parties and prevent a protracted discussion.
Besides being able to pay his release clause, PSG should also be able to offer the 25-year-old a bumper contract with Mbappé's departure leaving them in a good financial position to do that.
With the latest development, Chelsea will need to act fast if they are to grasp the signature of Osimhen who has been their long-term target.
Obviously, the Nigeria international, who has spent four seasons at Napoli, is yet to agree a deal with PSG which should offer the Premier League giants some hope.
