Norwich mulling over move for Charlton's German-Nigerian RB after impressing in trial game v Chelsea youth
Published: May 04, 2024Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Championship outfit Norwich City are mulling over a move for teenage German-Nigerian right-back Harmony Okwumo.
Okwumo has decided to embark on a new chapter in his career, with his contract at Charlton Athletic set to expire at the end of next month.
The Canaries and an unnamed English Premier League club are interested in his services ahead of the summer transfer window.
Norwich City firmed up their interest by inviting him for a trial which lasted for one week and are now considering whether to offer him a contract following the conclusion of his trial period on Saturday.
Okwumo, who featured as a trialist, impressed as Norwich City defeated champions in waiting Chelsea in an U18 Premier League, southern section fixture held at the Cobham Training Center on Saturday, going the distance in a 2-1 win.
The 18-year-old held his own in an interesting duel with Chelsea forward Frankie Runham, who has been invited to train with the first team of the Blues this season.
Okwumo offers versatility as he is capable of playing as a right back or right wing-back.
He will best be remembered at Charlton Athletic for winning the club's Goal of the Month award for August 2023 for his brilliant strike against Wigan Athletic U18s.
Okwumo represented the Addicks in the U18 Professional Development League, Professional Development League, London Senior Cup and FA Youth Cup this season.
