Reading will not be signing FC Copenhagen-owned winger Mukairu on a permanent deal
Published: May 06, 2024
League One club Reading have yet to publish their retained and released list with the 2023-2024 season done and dusted.
The Royals will be competing in the third tier of English football next season, having retained their League One status by finishing seventeenth in the 24-team table with 53 points accumulated from 46 games.
Although the retained and released list is still being awaited, allnigeriasoccer.com has been informed that Reading have made a decision on the future of Nigerian winger Paul Mukairu.
Mukairu has played his last game for Reading as the club have opted not to sign him on a permanent deal.
The 24-year-old has returned to parent club FC Copenhagen while he awaits additional updates on what lies ahead in his career.
Signed on a season-long loan from FC Copenhagen last August, Mukairu has departed the Select Car Leasing Stadium after making 38 appearances in all competitions, registering six goals and three assists.
He reunited with Rubén Sellés, who was assistant manager when the winger made his move to FC Copenhagen in January 2022.
Mukairu was voted as the Bristol Street Motors Trophy Player of the Round for the Group Stage after registering six goal involvements (3 goals, 3 assists) in three matches.
A product of FC Hearts Academy, he has a contract with FC Copnhagen until the end of 2025.
