Man Utd pushing to beat Newcastle United to the signing of Nigerian central defender
Published: May 14, 2024Manchester United are pushing to beat Newcastle to the signing of highly sought-after Nigerian central defender, Tosin Adarabioyo.
According to talkSPORT, the club's newly appointed director Jason Wilcox, wants to bring the Fulham star to Old Trafford, having helped him come through the youth ranks at Manchester City.
The Red Devils are planning on signing two center backs in the summer with Raphael Varane announcing his departure at the end of the season.
Erik ten Hag has been forced to use defensive midfielder Casemiro, as a makeshift center back in the past couple of games which underscores their troubles with injury in the central defensive position.
Having racked up 78 Premier League appearances since his debut and being available for free in the summer, it is no surprise that the prospect of signing Tosin appeals to Manchester United.
They will now have to move swiftly to convince the Anglo-Nigerian defender about the club's project as Newcastle have been regarded as the frontrunners for his services and the 26-year-old is said to be keen on playing for the Magpies manager, Eddie Howe.
Tottenham have also been linked heavily with the former England youth international but it appears their interest has waned following the development that Newcastle are in pole position to sign him.
