Osimhen's replacement: Napoli contact Man Utd over signing one-cap England international
Published: May 19, 2024
According to The Athletic via il Napolista, Napoli have contacted Manchester United over the possibility of one-cap England international Mason Greenwood joining the club, as the Italian outfit continue their search for Victor Osimhen's replacement.
Greenwood is currently on a season long-loan with La Liga side Getafe, and has impressed with his performances, scoring 10 goals in 34 games across all competitions.
The 22-year-old seems to have no future with the Red Devils following a criminal allegations of attempted rape, assault and coercive control leveled against him by his girlfriend.
While the allegations have been dropped and Manchester United have conducted an internal investigation on them, there was a mutual agreement between the club and the player to leave last summer.
With the England international looking unlikely to be welcomed back by the Premier League giants, Napoli reportedly want to sign him as a possible replacement for Osimhen.
The Super Eagles forward is expected to leave the Serie A giants this summer and a host of players are being looked at as his replacement.
The 25-year-old has been a vital player for the Parthenopeans, helping them end a 33-year wait for the Scudetto last season and will definitely leave a big vacuum at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.
