England squads announcement: Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham starlets eligible for Nigeria selected
Published: May 20, 2024
The English Football Association announced the Young Lions' rosters on Monday morning ahead of international matches later this month, with four Nigeria-eligible players getting invites.
History-making Arsenal forward Ethan Nwaneri, the youngest-ever player to feature in the English top flight, has been named in the England squad for the 2024 European U17 Championship.
Nwaneri is set to represent the Young Lions for the second time at the U17 Euro as he was a key member of the squad to the 2023 tournament in Hungary.
Joining the Hale End Academy product in the 21-player squad list is Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Callum Olusesi, who is provisionally cap-tied to the 2017 world champions at U17 level.
Greg Lincoln's side will face France in their opener on Tuesday evening at Ammochostos Epistrofi Stadium in Larnaca, followed by games against Portugal and Spain on Friday, May 24 and Monday, May 27 respectively.
England U18 coach Tom Curtis has picked a 23-man squad for a pair of internationals against Northern Ireland and Morocco at St. George's Park.
Chelsea fullback Somto Boniface and talented Aston Villa midfielder Jamaldeen Jimoh have been named in the U18 squad for the double-header.
Boniface was in the Chelsea side that won the U18 Premier League southern section in 2023-2024, while Jimoh helped Aston Villa reach the round of 16 of the Premier League 2 playoffs.
