Everton ready to offer Nigeria's best defensive forward the chance to stay in the Premier League
Published: May 20, 2024
Everton are interested in signing Super Eagles hopeful Elijah Adebayo, who impressed for Luton Town in the just concluded Premier League season.
Earlier this month, CIES Football Observatory, ranked Adebayo as the best Nigerian forward in 30 leagues around the world according to the amount of defensive work performed.
According to TEAMtalk, the Toffees manager Sean Dyche, is a huge admirer of the 26-year-old and wants the club to sign him when the transfer window opens.
Everton struggled for goals all season, scoring the second fewest goals in the Premier League and will need to add more quality to their attack to prevent fighting relegation for the fourth consecutive campaign.
They have also been linked with Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho who is set to become a free agent next month upon the expiry of his contract with Leicester City.
Adebayo had a decent campaign for Luton Town, netting 10 goals in 27 outings, the second highest for Rob Edwards' side but couldn't prevent the Hatters from getting relegated to the Championship.
With Luton getting relegated, it is not surprising to see the Anglo-Nigerian striker being linked with a move away from Kenilworth Road.
He has also been linked with Crystal Palace and Bournemouth in recent weeks with the latter club at the risk of losing star striker Dominic Solanke, who was one of the most prolific marksmen in THE English top-flight in the just concluded campaign.
