Lookman joins one-time PL Golden Boot winner, ex-Arsenal star in Europa League Team of the Season
Published: May 25, 2024Super Eagles forward Ademola Lookman has been named in the official UEFA Europa League Team of the Season following his heroics for Atalanta in the competition.
The in-form forward was named alongside former Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka, 2018/2019 Premier League joint Golden Boot winner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and eight others.
The team was selected by UEFA's Technical Observer panel, following the conclusion of the tournament on Wednesday with Atalanta being crowned champions, beating German Bundesliga winners Bayer Leverkusen.
Lookman was in stellar form as he bagged a hat-trick to help Gian Piero Gasperini win his first ever managerial title and help the Black and Blues win their first ever UEFA competition.
The Nigeria international had also bagged two goal involvements to help his side get the better of French giants Olympique Marseille in the semifinal at the Gewiss Stadium.
He finished the competition with 5 goals, one behind Gianluca Scamacca and five behind the overall top scorer Aubameyang while he also notched one assist.
Bayer Leverkusen and Atalanta had the most representatives in the 11-man team with four players apiece, Roma had two while Marseille had one.
