Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa on the radar of Saudi Pro League, Russian clubs
Published: May 30, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report that Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa is drawing interest from unnamed Saudi Pro League and Russian Premier League clubs in the summer transfer window.
Musa is currently unemployed after terminating his contract with Turkish Super Lig side Sivasspor due to unpaid wages.
Ahead of a proposed move in the summer, Musa has been training on his own in his native Nigeria.
The experienced winger has a good reputation in Russia, thanks to two successful stints with CSKA Moscow, where he won the Russian Premier League on three occasions in addition to the Russian Cup and Russian Super Cup.
He scored 61 goals and assisted 32 times in 182 appearances for the Muscovites and also lists VVV Venlo, Leicester City and Fatih Karagümrük as his previous clubs in Europe.
Musa is also a well-known figure in Saudi Arabian football, having worn the colours of Al-Nassr in the past.
The former Kano Pillars star played in 57 matches for Al-Nassr, during which he scored 11 goals and provided fourteen assists to his teammates, and contributed to the club winning the Saudi Pro League for the 2018-2019 season and the Saudi Super Cup in 2019.
On the international stage, Musa, Nigeria's record appearance maker, was a key member of the Super Eagles squad at the 2014 and 2018 World Cup and has attended four Africa Cup of Nations with the national team, winning the title in 2013.
