Fabrizio Romano confirms Atletico Madrid have rejected Chelsea's N48b bid plus add-ons for Omorodion
Published: June 18, 2024
According to renowned transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, Atletico Madrid have turned down Chelsea's €30m (equating to N48 billion in Nigerian currency) bid plus add-ons of up to €40m for Nigerian-eligible striker Samuel Omorodion.
Omorodion has a release clause of 80 million euros and he is not desperate to leave Atletico Madrid unless the offer is too good to turn down.
Chelsea have no intention to trigger his release clause, so the only way for the deal to happen is for the Blues to reach an agreement with Atletico Madrid.
The west London outfit were impressed by Omorodion's decent loan spell with Deportivo Alavés last season, where he registered eight goals and one assist in all competitions.
Despite a dip in form towards the end of the season, which saw him fail to score or assist in his last 12 games in La Liga, Omorodion's potential has not gone unnoticed.
Besides Chelsea, Roma and West Ham have also expressed interest in the 20-year-old marksman, with the Hammers joining Chelsea as the only two Premier League clubs to have officially tabled an offer.
Atletico Madrid's rejection of Chelsea's bid is a clear indication of their intention to keep Omorodion in their ranks.
The Spain U21 international is seen as a bright prospect and looks set to be a hot commodity in the transfer market, and the club is keen on nurturing his talent.
The 2004-born striker joined Los Colchoneros from Granada in the Summer of 2023, putting pen to paper on a five year contract.
