Published: June 19, 2024
Through official channels, 27-time Swiss champions Grasshopper Club Zurich announced the release of eight players on Wednesday, June 19.
Grasshopper Club Zurich began preparations for the forthcoming season today, with Kaduna-born forward Francis Momoh not part of the group of players that trained.
The seven other players released by Grasshopper are: Bradley Fink, Dijon Kameri, Oliver Batista Meier, Elmin Rastoder, Liam Bollati, Robin Kalem and Steven Deana.
In January, 2023, Momoh inked a new deal with GC Zurich, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2023-2024 season, with a further year's option in the club's favour which has not been triggered.
Overall, the 23-year-old appeared in 78 official matches for Grasshopper, registering twelve goals and ten assists in 3,943 minutes of action.
Momoh transferred to Grasshopper from traditional Nigerian club Heartland FC in 2019, rising through the youth team ranks to make his debut against Lausanne-Sport in August 2021.
He was promoted to the first team after starring for the U21s with 13 goals in eighteen outings in the 1. Liga Classic group 2 .
Momoh will best be remembered by Grasshopper fan for scoring a hat-trick against Stade-Lausanne on November 12, 2023 - a feat that earned him the Player of the Month award.
