Arsenal keep Napoli guessing on bid for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen
Published: June 21, 2024
Napoli will have to wait to sell the 2022/2023 Serie A Best Striker Victor Osimhen before signing a replacement.
As a result, Il Matino via the Standard have reported that the Parthenopeans are waiting for Arsenal's bid for the Super Eagles forward.
It is no news that Osimhen has made up his mind to leave the Italian side and wants to move to the Premier League and Napoli have also lined up potential replacements as well.
Chelsea forward Romelu Lukaku is their primary target due to his past working relationship with new manager Antonio Conte while last season's La Liga top scorer Artem Dovbyk is also on their shortlist.
Lukaku and Dovbyk will cost a sizable fee and it is only logical that a deal for either of the two forwards is done after the sale of Osimhen.
The Nigeria international is running out of suitors at the moment with his price tag being considered too hefty while some clubs have also abandoned their quest to sign him to focus on other strikers with different profiles.
Arsenal are looking to be his only destination at the moment, particularly with his insistence on moving to the Premier League but the north London club aren't ready to make a bid of €130m which is his release clause.
As previously reported, the Gunners are willing to offer only €75 million, which is significantly below his valuation, creating an obstacle for a potential move to the Emirates Stadium this summer.
