Ex-Nottingham Forest winger urges Zirkzee to snub transfer to Manchester United
Published: June 21, 2024
Former Nottingham Forest winger Bryan Roy feels Joshua Zirkzee is not yet ready to make a big leap in his career and has urged the Dutch-Nigerian forward to snub a potential transfer to Manchester United this summer.
After an impressive season at Bologna, Zirkzee has a host of clubs interested in signing him including the Red Devils, AC Milan and Juventus.
Zirkzee's proposed transfer to AC Milan previously seemed on the verge of being completed, but his agent's demand for fifteen million euros threw a spanner in the works.
Due to the difficult negotiations, Manchester United are attempting to hijack the deal for Zirkzee.
The Bayern Munich product put himself in the shop window after registering sixteen goal involvements in thirty-four outings in the Serie A last season.
Retired Netherlands international Roy wants Zirkzee to shun a move to Manchester United because he's still learning the trade.
Speaking to Tuttojuve, Roy stated: "Zirkzee, unlike Koopmeiners, is not yet ready for the big leap. He is still young, we need another year in Bologna in which to score a lot.
"It would be important to test yourself in the same team but with a different coach Then he'll think about what to do."
Zirkze has played in two of the top five European Leagues, Serie A and German Bundesliga, and caught the eye during a loan spell at Belgian giants RSC Anderlecht during the 2021-2022 season.
He could become cap-tied to his country of birth on Friday night when the Netherlands take on France in a 2024 European Championship Group D match.
