Chelsea miss out: Ex-Super Eagles striker confirms his son will sign scholarship deal at Wolves
Published: June 28, 2024
Speaking exclusively to allnigeriasoccer.com, former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Okoduwa has confirmed that Chelsea have ended talks with his son Wesley, and the talented defender is now set to extend his stay at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
As first reported by The Secret Scout, the Blues are no longer pursuing a deal for the England youth international with the fullback now set to sign a scholarship deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Having shown to be one of the most promising players in England with the Wanderers, Chelsea were hoping to add Wesley to their array of promising talents.
The Premier League giants have already added Kendry Páez who will join the club in the summer of 2025, and are on the verge of completing a deal for Marc Guiu.
Wesley's meteoric rise with Wolves saw him debut for the development side last season, with four appearances in the Premier League 2 and the Playoffs.
The 16-year-old was also named as a substitute on five occasions in the Premier League last term, showing the high regard the academy and first team coaches have for him.
Having now agreed to sign a scholarship deal, he will be hoping to continue his progression at Wolverhampton Wanderers.
