Published: July 05, 2024
Through official channels, Turkish Super Lig club Hatayspor have announced the signing of 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup-winning winger Funsho Bamgboye.
The ASPIRE Academy alum has joined Hatayspor on a free transfer after his contract with Rapid Bucharest ended.
He spent eighteen months at the Romanian top-flight club, having joined them in January 2023.
His switch to Hatayspor was formalized in a signing ceremony attended by Sports Director Fatih Kavlak , and the Nigerian put pen to paper on a two-year deal, with an option for the 2026-2027 season.
Bamgboye passed a routine medical at Acıbadem Fulya Hospital, paving the way for him to complete his transfer to Hatayspor.
The winger was involved in 41 goals in 146 matches combined for Haladás and Fehérvár during his six-year stay in Hungary.
He has a bit of European experience, having played in ten matches in the qualifying rounds of the Europa League and Europa Conference League.
Bamgboye directly participated in 17 goals (8 goals, 9 assists) in 54 appearances for Rapid Bucharest.
Internationally, he scored a crucial second goal for the Golden Eaglets as they beat Mali 2-0 in the final of the 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup, sharing the same pitch with Victor Osimhen, Samuel Chukwueze and Kelechi Nwakali.
Bamgboye was in the Flying Eagles side that failed to qualify for the 2017 Fifa U20 World Cup.
