Rangers-reared winger Dapo Mebude on trial at relegated Scottish Premiership club
Published: July 07, 2024
Rangers academy product Dapo Mebude is on trial at relegated Scottish Premiership club Livingston.
The former Scotland U21 international of Nigerian descent is currently unemployed following his release by Belgian club KV Oostende.
Six months after surviving a serious car crash in Loppem, Mebude is back in Scotand training with Livingston as he aims to bag himself a contract.
The former Rangers winger featured as a trialist as Livingston were beaten 2-1 by Motherwell in their last pre-season friendly staged at Fir Park on Saturday.
Mebude made one first team appearance during his stint at Rangers and spent the second half of the 2020-2021 campaign on loan at Queen of the South FC, where he scored two goals in eleven Championship matches.
The 22-year-old was on the books of Rangers for a decade before signing for Watford in the summer of 2021.
If Mebude catches the eye of manager David Martindale and offered a contract, he will team up with 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup star Samson Lawal at Livingston.
2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning defender Efe Ambrose is the most notable Nigerian footballer to have played for Livingston.
